Montreal-based videogame developer Eidos has announced it is laying off 124 of its employees, as well as the head of its studio. The company announced the layoffs on Monday in a message on LinkedIn, saying the layoffs are a “result of changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams.” Calling it a “difficult day,” the company also announced the departure of David Anfossi, after many years as head of studio. “We thank David for his contributions and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” the company stated. A transition plan is underway, including support for laid-off employees, the company said. The company was founded in 2007 and is known for the Deus Ex series, the Thief series and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
