The City of Montreal and various partners have confirmed it will begin building its first housing project in the Bridge-Bonaventure sector next year. Called the Triangle Nord Pointe-Saint-Charles project, the rental residential complex will be built in two phases, the first involving the construction of a 20-storey tower at the intersection of Bridge, Wellington, and St-Patrick streets in Pointe-Saint-Charles. It will consist of affordable off-market housing for 376 households (with studios and 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units). “Accelerating the development of Bridge-Bonaventure is the last item on my list of commitments for my last 300 days as mayor,” said Montreal Mayor Valerie Plante in a press release on Monday. “This project perfectly embodies our vision of a complete, affordable, green neighborhood connected to public transportation.” According to figures provided by the City of Montreal, the price of “standard” affordable rent will be, for example, approximately $817 for a studio, $944 for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,250 for a three-bedroom unit. The price for “intermediate” affordable rent will be approximately $1,226 for a studio, $1,416 for a one-bedroom unit, and $1,875 for a three-bedroom unit. Community and commercial spaces will also be developed on the ground floor of the tower. The $130-million construction project is scheduled to begin in summer 2026, and expected to be finished in fall 2028.
