The City of Montreal is set to begin its sixth snow loading operation of the winter on Thursday evening, following recent snowfall that left up to 15 centimetres of accumulation in some areas. The operation is expected to start at 7 p.m. across all boroughs, with nearly 3,000 workers and 2,500 vehicles deployed to clear snow from roughly 11,000 kilometres of street. City officials are calling on residents to respect temporary parking restrictions and avoid leaving objects on sidewalks to help crews work efficiently. For example, Garbage bags and bins should remain on private property rather than being placed in public areas. More than 8,200 overnight parking spaces are expected to be available between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. to accommodate displaced vehicles, and parking restrictions should be lifted quickly once snow loading is completed, the city emphasizes. Montreal is also encouraging residents to use its updated 311 Montréal mobile app, which includes real-time snow removal tracking, alerts and maps with parking availability. Pedestrians, cyclists and drivers are being asked to use caution around snow removal equipment, with officials warning the vehicles have large blind spots and frequently reverse as part of their operations. Residents can also consult the city’s website to track snow removal progress or locate towed vehicles.
