Montreal running back Sean Thomas Erlington retires from hometown Alouettes

Another Quebec player from the Montreal Alouettes has decided to end his football career.

Following linebacker Marc-Antoine Dequoy last month, Montreal running back Sean Thomas Erlington is now hanging up his shoulder pads at the age of 33.

The Alouettes confirmed the news on the X platform on Wednesday, posting a message accompanied by four photos of Erlington in action.

“Happy retirement, Sean Thomas Erlington! A proud Quebecer who has made his mark on the CFL. Congratulations on your career and good luck in the future!” read the team’s official account.

Erlington played eight seasons in the CFL, the last two with the Alouettes. In 2025, he played in 11 games and had 88 carries for 386 yards and two touchdowns.

He also caught nine passes for 68 yards and an extra touchdown, in addition to returning a kickoff for 16 yards.

In his career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Alouettes, Erlington played in 106 games. He carried the ball 318 times for 1,769 yards and nine touchdowns, and had 85 receptions for 829 yards and five additional touchdowns.
