Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a woman was shot dead in the Ville-Marie borough on Wednesday afternoon. Police confirmed the shooting was the seventh homicide of the year on the territory. According to Noovo Info, Quebec provincial police (SQ) requested a wellness check by the SPVM around 3:25 p.m. at a condo on Simpson Street near Summerhill Avenue. Officers found the woman with injuries to the upper body and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Noovo Info reported that a man was detained and will be interviewed by investigators to determine his involvement in the death. The man, who was not at the scene when police arrived, is reported to have alerted the SQ about the injured woman. The connection between the two individuals is not yet known.
