While it is officially spring, it feels more like winter as one climatologist says Montreal has been stuck in a prolonged stretch of cold and snowy weather. “Every month from November on has been colder than normal,” said David Phillips with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC). He says it has not been a “record” cold; instead, the freezing temperatures have been “consistent.” Phillips says the last 10 days have been especially challenging. “We’ve had snow on eight of those days,” he said. According to Environment Canada, the temperature could rise to 14 degrees Celsius on Monday. The warmer air, however, will not last. “It’s just like a one-day wonder,” said Phillips. “The next day, two days, we’re going to see temperatures down to three or four degrees.” Phillips says warm air is making its way up north, so Montrealers should expect higher temperatures in the next 10 days. “We…have to be a little bit more patient,” said Phillips.
