Mafia-linked mystery: Police re-open missing person cold case

Montreal police are at a loss to explain the three-year-old disappearance of Giuseppe Renda.

Police say Renda had links to the Montreal Mafia and was arrested in 2001 during an investigation into illegal gambling, although the charges were later dropped.

Renda is not related to Paolo Renda, who disappeared in 2010.

In the year before Renda was last seen he rarely left his Westmount home, however Renda was last seen on St. Viateur St. W. at 12:30 p.m. on May 4, 2012.

His car was discovered on St. Urbain St.

Renda would now be 56 years old. He is 1.78 m, 93 kg, with grey hair and brown eyes.
