Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois releases white paper on education challenges for Quebec boys

QS MNA Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois warns that the Quebec education system is unfair and that boys are paying the price.

Quebec Solidaire MNA Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois released a white paper today titled “Those We Leave Behind: The Impact of a Three-Tiered School System on Boys’ Success.”

This document demonstrates, with supporting figures and studies, that boys from disadvantaged backgrounds are the primary victims of the three-tiered school system in Quebec.

The report reveals previously unpublished or little-known data illustrating the extent to which achievement gaps between boys and girls are unevenly distributed across the school system. In particular, it reveals that the dropout rate gap between boys and girls is three times higher in regular public schools than in private schools, and that the gap in CEGEP access between boys and girls is nearly three times higher in public schools than in private schools.

Nadeau-Dubois hopes his white paper will spark a province-wide conversation about those left behind by the Quebec education system.
