Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to host bike, drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic

Bike-thru vaccines in Quebec The province has created yet another easy way to get vaccinated: a drive-thru, but on your bike.

MONTREAL — Quebec has announced the opening of a bike- and drive-thru clinic for Montrealers looking to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

The site will be at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve; last month, it was announced that the annual Formula 1 race would not take place for a second year in a row due to the pandemic.

The drive- and bike-thru will take place on the weekends of May 29 to 30, June 5 to 6 and June 12 to 13.

"We have those vaccines, so people should be able to come here to get those vaccines," said Health Minister Christian Dubé at a news conference Wednesday.

He's hoping it will help encourage more people to get vaccinated.

"When we have those second doses in enough people then we can finally say, 'Okay, the masks are not as important, we can begin to do away with the masks,'" he said.

Those coming in their cars will need to make an appointment.

The government says people on bikes will be able to just roll in without one.

Organizers say the racetrack vaccination site can handle 1,000 doses a day.
