The local branch of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), affiliated with the Fédération des travailleurs et travailleuses du Québec (FTQ), comprises 230 members. No strike notice has yet been issued. Potential tactics could include one-day strikes before escalating to indefinite action, the union said on Friday. The dispute centres mainly on salaries, with the union reporting that the employer’s offer provides for a 12 per cent increase over five years.
