Armed robbery reported at LaSalle store, suspect flees

Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating an armed robbery at a business in the LaSalle borough on Monday evening.

The SPVM said a 911 call was received at 6:45 p.m. reporting the robbery on Broadway Street near 5ᵉ Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a shell casing on the floor inside the store.

According to initial information, a suspect entered the business intending to steal the cash register and fired a shot before fleeing.

An employee present at the time, who was not injured, contacted police.

A security perimeter was established to protect the scene and allow investigators to collect evidence.

Surveillance footage will be reviewed to help determine the circumstances of the incident.

No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.
