Two people were injured Wednesday evening after a possible explosion at a building about 40 minutes northwest of Montreal, police say. At around 6 p.m., the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) got a 911 call about a fire at the building on Rang Ste-Philomène in the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) community of Kanesatake. When officers arrived, they found a building behind the Medharma cannabis dispensary engulfed in flames. Kane Montour, a coordinator with the Kanehsatake Perimeter Response Team, told CTV News that he received calls about a “loud boom” in the area and that he was one of the first to arrive on scene. Montour said at least one of the two people injured had burns to their face. Police did not have any additional information about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
