SASKATOON - A trial for the man accused of killing two Saskatchewan RCMP officers has been scheduled for early next year.

Curtis Dagenais, 43, is to have his first-degree murder case heard in Saskatoon Court of Queen's Bench between Feb. 23 and March 13.

Dagenais is accused of shooting constables Robin Cameron, 29, and Marc Bourdages, 26, during a chase along country roads near Spiritwood in July 2006.

Earlier this week, a judge agreed that the trial should be moved to Saskatoon from the town of Battleford, where it was supposed to be held starting last month.

Justice Gerald Allbright said a change of venue was necessary to ensure Dagenais get a fair trial.

Allbright said the case has received a lot of publicity and moving it to a larger city would increase changes of finding unbiased jurors.
