Windsor Spitfires take West Division lead after 6-1 win in London

Windsor Spitfires sniper Liam Greentree scored three times earning first star honours in a 6-1 win over the London Knights Friday night in front of 9,061 at Canada Life Place.

The veteran Spitfire opened the scoring with his 30th of the season in the first period, before Knights rookie Jaxon Cover answered to tie the game at the 12:55 mark.

After that it was all Windsor who scored five unanswered goals in the span of 4:40 including Greentree’s 31st and 32nd goals.

The victory gave the Spitfires 83 points and jumped them into first place in the West Division, one point ahead of Flint.

London sits at 71 points which is fifth in the Western Conference, and they slip five points behind Sault Ste. Marie for fourth which would give them home ice in the opening round of the playoffs.

London has 10 games remaining on their schedule including Saturday afternoon in Brampton and Sunday in Kitchener.

Windsor gets no rest either as they are home to Barrie Saturday night.
