‘Slushy mess’: Freezing drizzle possible overnight

After a night of heavy snowfall in the London area, we are in for a potential slushy mess Tuesday night, according to CTV Meteorologist Julie Atchison.

A band of lake effect snow brought upwards of 15 centimetres to the area, where some places west of London saw 50 or more centimetres.

“A significant amount of snowfall in a short period of time,” said Atchison.

“We could see some freezing drizzle tonight. We do have some warm air coming in through the overnight and temperatures are set to slowly start to climb as we head into tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.”

Tuesday night, there is a 40 per cent chance of freezing drizzle. Wednesday, the fronts will come through with a chance of showers.

“This evening is still at risk for a little bit of light mixed precipitation as temperatures hover near the freezing mark, she added.

Tuesday: Mainly cloudy. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h. High 2 C.

Tuesday night: Cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries or drizzle, a risk of freezing drizzle. Wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h. Low -1 C. Wind chill -8 C.

Wednesday: Cloudy. 60 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers changing to 60 per cent chance of showers in the morning. Wind west 30 km/h. High 5 C.

Wednesday night: Cloudy periods with 40 per cent chance of showers. Low 1 C.

Thursday: A mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 6 C.
