Pedestrians struck while assisting motorist in ditch, six sent to hospital

Six people were taken to hospital after a crash in Aylmer.

Elgin OPP and emergency services were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. for the three-vehicle collision involving a mini-van and two sedans.

According to police, one of the vehicles struck three pedestrians who were helping someone stuck in the ditch.

County Road 73/Imperial Road was closed between Ron McNeil Line and College Line while crews investigated, The road reopened around 5:20 a.m.

OPP are reminding driver so slow down, stay alert and stay in control, adding, “These simple steps will go a long way in reducing the number of winter weather-related collisions on our roads.”
