New cases of measles confirmed by local health units: here’s a list of exposure sites

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has issued a notice of two new cases of confirmed measles in the community, with five possible exposure sites where the infected people were infectious while out in the community.

The following locations and times were possible exposures:

• Fanshawe College - 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd. March 14 from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Tiger Jack’s - 842 Wharncliffe Rd S, London March 14 from 3:20 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
• Jack’s - 539 Richmond Street, London March 14 from 9:30 p.m. – March 15 at 4:10 a.m.
• Burrito Boyz - 206 Central Ave, London March 15 from 2:15 a.m. - 4:30 a.m.
• Binge Bins - 3198 Wonderland Rd S, London March 16 from 9:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

If you were present and are immunocompromised, pregnant and not fully vaccinated, or were there with an infant under 1 year old, call MLHU to discussed post-exposure measures at 519-663-5317.

Additionally, Southwestern Public Health is reporting one new measles exposure.

• St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital - Diagnostic Imaging Department - 189 Elm St., St Thomas. March 11, 2025 - 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

And in Lambton County, the following exposure points have been reported by Lambton Public Health:

• Confederation Central School - 2500 Confederation Line, Sarnia - March 17 to March 21 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
• Sarnia Upward Basketball Practice - 707 Talfourd Street, Sarnia - March 17 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• Bluewater Health Sarnia Emergency Department - 89 Norman Street, Sarnia - March 19 at 7 p.m. to March 20 at 2 a.m.
• ARI Pediatric Dentistry - 1323 Exmouth Street, Sarnia - March 21 at 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Sarnia Upward Basketball Game - 707 Talfourd Street, Sarnia - March 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Sarnia Upward Basketball Celebration - 707 Talfourd Street, Sarnia - March 22 from 5:45 p.m. to 10 p.m.
• First Student Sarnia Bus #8561 (Cat Bus) - March 17 and March 19 from 2:25 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

If you were present at this location during this timeframes, were born in 1970 or later, and are not up to date with your vaccinations, please call public health at 1-800-922-0096.

All those that may have been exposed are asked to monitor for symptoms for 21 days. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red and irritated eyes, small white, grey or blue spots in the mouth, and a red blotchy rash. The rash is the last symptom to appear.

If you think you have measles, it’s important to isolate at home to avoid spreading the virus. Should you need medical care, please call your health care provider ahead so they can make sure to have appropriate measures in place to ensure measles is not spread at the hospital.
