Beloved former Toronto Blue Jay Kevin Pillar, NFL Hall of Famer Andre Reed, NHL Hall of Famer Serge Savard, and the former “voice of” the Toronto Maple Leafs Joe Bowen have confirmed their attendance at the St. Thomas Sports Spectacular on Jan. 21, 2027. Nine sports stars have been locked in for the annual event in support of St. Thomas Special Olympics at the St. Anne’s Centre. Pillar played 13 seasons in Major League Baseball, seven of those with the Toronto Blue Jays. Known as “Superman,” he was an elite defensive outfielder who was a starter during the playoff runs in 2015 and 2016. Reed was part of the Buffalo Bills dynasty in the early 1990s. The NFL Hall of Famer went to seven Pro Bowls and has the third most receptions in Superbowl history. Bowen was “the voice” of the Toronto Maple Leafs for over 3,000 games for the organization. With his catchphrase “Holy Mackinaw,” Bowen started calling games in 1982, and retired at the end of last season. Savard won nine Stanley Cup championships, seven as a player and two more as a general manager, all with the Montreal Canadiens. Named one of the Top 100 NHL players of all-time, Savard was also a member of Team Canada in the 1972 Summit Series. Toronto Star podcaster and columnist Mike Wilner will return as emcee, a role he’s held since 2015. Tickets will be available online starting Nov. 3, 2026. In 1978, Father Patrick Costello, pastor of St. Anne’s Parish, had the dream to invite celebrities from the world of sport to our community. Since its inception, the volunteer-run event has raised more than $1 million to support a variety of projects for local Special Olympics, Community Living Elgin, and adults with disabilities. With a great cause, the event has been able to draw superstars from the sports world to a small Southwestern Ontario city. Confirmed Head Table guests for 2027:
