Highway 402 reopens near Sarnia after ‘issue’ with the pavement

Extreme heat might be to blame for another closure of Highway 402 in Lambton County.

A portion of Highway 402 has reopened after issues with the pavement — believed to be caused by the heat.

On Monday afternoon, OPP shut down the eastbound lanes between Airport Road and Mandaumin Road near Sarnia after uneven pavement was discovered near the Waterworks Sideroad overpass.

On June 23, a pavement joint in the westbound lanes nearMandaumin Road buckled in the extreme heat, requiring a temporary repair.
