Several days after a watermain break closed one of London’s busiest arteries, traffic is once again flowing on Highbury Avenue. As previously reported by CTV News, on Dec. 13 a watermain break caused a partial road collapse, leading to the closure of Highbury Avenue North between Fuller Street and Killaly Road. On Wednesday, the City of London announced the roadway has officially reopened to traffic. The reopening of Highbury Avenue was initially slated for Monday morning but was subsequently delayed two additional times due to severe snowsqualls. Officials say the recent cold snap and the age of the water main – originally installed in 1949 – likely combined to cause the break.
