Goderich downtown ‘big dig’ underway

A 2-year-long construction project in downtown Goderich started today.

Goderich’s ‘Big Dig’ will see all the sewer and water pipes under Courthouse Square ripped out, and replaced. New sidewalks and streetscapes will also be added.

The overall project will cost upwards of $11 million.

The lengthy construction project will be completed in quarters, starting from South Street to East Street until August. Work is then expected to switch from South Street to West Street for the fall, and early winter.

Next year, work will be completed on the other half of Courthouse Square.

All businesses and farmers markets will be open throughout construction, say town and BIA officials.
