An Old East Village apartment building was evacuated on Tuesday night for an electrical fire. The apartment is near Dundas and Hewitt Street. Firefighters said tenants reported smoke and a burning smell around 9 p.m. They said the flames started in a basement unit and they limited damage by disconnecting the fire. No injuries were reported.
