Crash near Hanover, Ont. claims life of male driver

Officials waved the truck into the MTO scales in Cochrane for an inspection July 11 at 1:30 p.m., with the help of traffic officers with the Cochrane Ontario Provincial Police.

A man has died, and a girl has been sent to hospital after a crash near Hanover late Thursday afternoon.

According to a news release from the West Grey Police Service, at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday emergency services responded to the area of Sideroad 5 between Concession 4 NDR and Concession 6 NDR, located near Hanover.

As a result of the crash, the male driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased.

Police say that at the request of the family, no information regarding the identity of the deceased will be released.

A female youth passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

West Grey police with the assistance of the OPP Technical Collision Investigations Unit investigated the scene and the roadway has since been reopened.

“The West Grey Police Service extends their deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones affected by this devastating loss,” police said in a statement. “We ask that the privacy of those involved be respected as families and the community begin to grieve.”

Police say no further information will be released at this time.
