A mixed bag of a forecast is in store for the London region with gusty winds, cloudy skies and a chance of rain all possible heading into the weekend. According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, a low-pressure system has made its way through the region, but gusty winds of up to 60 km/h will remain into Thursday evening before tapering off. A wind warning is in effect in through Haldimand, Norfolk and Niagara, and Atchison says areas along that northern shoreline of Lake Erie could see wind gusts upwards of 90 km/h. There is still a slight risk for a few pop-up showers heading into the afternoon, but Atchison says the rain and thunderstorms are now driving off to the east as cloud cover will remain throughout the region. Temperatures will stay on the cooler side Thursday afternoon, with a high of 20 C. London’s average daytime high this time of year is 25 C. “We’re not going to see temperatures warm up a whole lot more as we head through the overnight,” Atchison said, as the overnight low is expected t o drop to 12 C. Friday will start off with some sunshine, but cloud cover is expected to increase early in the morning, as are the winds, with gusts of up to 50 km/h and a 30 per cent chance of showers. ‘We do have a weak weather system arriving first thing Saturday morning, and that could kick off a few showers,” Atchison said. “But the majority of the weekend will be rain free during the day, although temperatures will hover on the cooler side of what’s normal for this time of year.” Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers, and a high of 22 C.
