The Green in Wortley Village was packed on Saturday for the fifth annual Wortley Pride celebration. The event continues to grow and this year featured 120 vendors and 17 performances on stage. “It is just a celebration of queer joy,” said Kathy Bell, president of Wortley Pride. “Everybody is here to love and accept each other who they are, as they are and it just it just fills your heart. It’s almost palpable here today.” In Photos: Wortley Pride Wortley Pride describes itself s a volunteer run, family-focused celebration for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities & their allies. “Old South has embraced us right from the get go,” added Bell. “When we started five years ago, it was just a simple idea to bring people together after COVID and based on the community’s response, we’ve just kept growing and growing and growing.” After the event went off without a hitch, the organizers took to social media to thank everyone who attended. “Five years of Wortley Pride. We are just getting started,” they wrote.
