A four-day commercial vehicle enforcement blitz in the Grey Bruce region has resulted in dozens of charges and vehicles being taken off the road, according to police. Grey Bruce OPP, working alongside several municipal police services and the Ministry of Transportation, carried out the initiative on June 1, 2, 3 and 5. The operation targeted commercial motor vehicles to ensure compliance with provincial safety regulations. Police said officers conducted 95 inspections during the campaign. The checks led to 81 charges being laid for various violations, while 41 vehicles were deemed unsafe and ordered out of service. Authorities said the infractions included mechanical defects, improper documentation and other safety-related issues that could pose risks to drivers and the public. Police say the results underscore the importance of coordinated enforcement efforts to improve road safety and ensure commercial vehicles meet required standards. “Unsafe vehicles on our roadways present a significant risk, not only to their operators but to all road users,” police said in a statement. Police are reminding commercial vehicle operators and companies to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and comply with all applicable laws.
