Guelph Police have charged a man who chased a stranger while wielding a metal pole. On Monday, just before 10 a.m., a woman was walking in the area of Woolwich Street and Marilyn Drive. Police said she noticed a man banging a building with a metal pole. “The man saw her and began walking towards her while yelling threats and raising the pole over his head,” they wrote in a media release. “Bystanders intervened and got the victim to safety.” The man was identified as a 41-year-old from Guelph. He was charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon, and two counts of breaching probation orders.
