A Guelph man was arrested after he was seen carrying a crossbow with a scope, even though he wasn’t suppose to have any weapons. Guelph Police said a concerned citizen contacted them with security video of an armed man outside a business on Woolwich Street. He was identified as a 37-year-old who was bound by several court orders not to possess weapons. Officers located the man outside a downtown business on Friday night. Police said he initially tried to flee and resisted arrest. Once he was handcuffed, they searched the man and found an unspecified amount of suspected methamphetamine. The 37-year-old was charged with two counts of possession of a weapon contrary to an order, four counts of breaching probation orders, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Police said they did not find the crossbow.
