A woman’s run-in with a food delivery scam in Cambridge is serving as a warning for others. The Waterloo Regional Police Service said she was outside a store on Pinebush Road on Oct. 26 when she was approached by a female who had been standing by an SUV. The female said she couldn’t pay for a fast-food order because she only had a payment method on her phone. She asked the woman to help her pay for her purchase. The woman handed her bank card to a male suspect who was holding what appeared to be a debit machine. The woman’s card was swapped out during the alleged transaction, but she only discovered the problem hour later when her real card had already been used to make unauthorized purchases. Anyone with information or video footage related to this incident is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777, extension 2299.
