Six people charged in Brantford drug trafficking investigation

Six people have been charged and more than $70,000 of illegal drugs have been seized as part of a drug trafficking investigation in Brantford.

The Brantford Police Service began their investigation this winter, leading to officers searching a home in the downtown core on Friday. During the search, 770 hydromorphone pills, 173 grams of suspected cocaine, 136.6 grams of suspected fentanyl and 9.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine were seized. Police said the estimated street value of the drugs adds up to $70,942.

A 44-year-old from Brampton and a 33-year-old man, 62-year-old woman, 39-year-old woman and 62-year-old man, all from Brantford, were each charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking.

A 28-year-old man from Brantford was also charged with possession of fentanyl.
