Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian Saturday afternoon in Kitchener. Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Victoria Street North and Frederick Street at about 4:05 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a Jeep Wrangler and a pedestrian. Police said the pedestrian, a 62-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Jeep, a 41-year-old man, was not physically injured. The intersection was closed for several hours while members of the Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit investigated the scene. Police have not released the identity of the victim, and no charges have been announced. The investigation is ongoing.
