Sharon Hampson will be the Grand Parade Marshal for this year’s Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade. The children’s entertainer is best known as a member of Sharon, Lois and Bram and “The Elephant Show.” “I am so pleased and honoured to serve as the Grand Parade Marshal for this year’s Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with my daughter Randi and old pal Elephant,” Hampson said in a media release. “For generations, music has brought children, families and communities together and this parade does the same. Whether you grew up singing ‘Skinnamarink’ or are sharing it with a new generation, its message of love, kindness and connection never gets old. I’m thrilled to be part of a tradition that creates lasting memories and brings people together.” She ended with a line from the trio’s most famous song. “I love you in the morning and in the afternoon and I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone this Thanksgiving weekend!” The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 12. It will start at Weber Street and Frederick Street in downtown Kitchener, then make its way to Weber Street and Bridgeport Road in Waterloo. After the parade, Hampson will head over to THEMUSEUM for Kidchella. The Oktoberfest-themed event will feature performances from Hampson and her daughter Randi, as well as Mr. J & Cherry Lane.
