A company from Guelph, Ont. has been fined for a workplace injury. According to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, an employee of Kiwi Constructors Ltd., a precast concrete building components manufacturer, was hit by a large steel table at their Massey Road facility on Sept. 24, 2025. The ministry said the company uses a semi-automated production system that moves the tables between workstations. The worker was walking through the production area while a table was in motion. “A Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development investigation found that portions of the equipment’s movement were not visible from the control station and the warning system, which used a white light when the tables were in motion, was inadequate,” a ministry release said. Kiwi Constructors Ltd. pleaded guilty and was fined $70,000.
