New fareboxes will be soon rolled out on Grand River Transit’s fleet of buses. While they look similar to the previous version, there are key differences in how they work. The smart card reader has moved to the top of the farebox. To the right of the reader, is the scanner for transfers. Grand River Transit promises the new fareboxes will also speed up the paying process for coins. Another difference is that transfers will print from the front of the farebox. Grand River Transit said the fareboxes will start popping up in buses this week.
