Just 24 hours after a severe storm swept across southwestern Ontario, Environment Canada has issued another severe thunderstorm warning for Waterloo Region and surrounding areas. The alert was issued just after 4 p.m. Thursday. “Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the weather agency’s alert said. Residents across Waterloo Region could possibly see wind gusts of up to 100km/h, ping pong ball-sized hail and more than 30 mm of rain. Environment Canada said power outages could occur, as well as damage to roofs, fences and trees. Residents are encouraged to find shelter and take cover if threatening weather approaches.
