A 32-year-old Cambridge man is facing multiple charges after police caught him inside a parked vehicle early Saturday morning. Around 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, Waterloo Regional Police responded to reports of a suspicious person checking door handles and entering vehicles on Masterson Crescent in Cambridge. Officers arrived on scene and found the suspect inside a parked vehicle, arresting him without incident. Investigators determined two vehicles were broken into and stolen property was taken. Officers recovered the stolen items and returned them to their rightful owners. The accused faces two counts of theft from a motor vehicle. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant and faces further charges: Possession of property obtained by crime Unauthorized use of credit card data Failure to comply with probation The man was held in police custody for a bail hearing. In light of the arrest, Waterloo Regional Police are reminding residents to protect their property through the ongoing Lock It or Lose It campaign. Police suggest people keep their doors locked at all times and remove personal valuables or keep them out of sight. Police said people should call police immediately if you spot suspicious behavior in your neighborhood. “Timely reporting of suspicious activity can help reduce opportunities for theft, support crime prevention efforts, and keep neighbourhoods safe,” police said in a news release.
