Brantford Police are asking for the public’s help after what investigators describe as a suspicious interaction between an unknown adult male and a teenage girl. Police said the incident happened around 10 a.m. on Friday near Brock Street and Colborne Street East. According to investigators, the teenage girl was walking in the area when she was approached by an unknown adult man who “engaged her in conversation.” Police said the youth did not enter the individual’s vehicle and was able to leave the area safely. The incident was later reported to police. Investigators are now working to identify the individual involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the encounter. At this time, police are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the interaction or who has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. While no physical injuries were reported, police are reminding parents and guardians to speak with children and youth about personal safety and situational awareness. Investigators also encourage young people to avoid approaching or entering a stranger’s vehicle, remain aware of their surroundings when walking alone, travel with friends whenever possible and report suspicious interactions to a trusted adult and police as soon as possible. Anyone with information is asked to contact Brantford Police.
