The Brantford Bulldogs’ unbeaten start to the season is over after a 3-0 loss to the Owen Sound Attack on Sunday. Brantford entered the game with a 7-0 record but could not find the back of the net despite generating plenty of scoring chances. The Bulldogs were outshot 33-32 overall, but had more shots than Owen Sound in the first and third periods. Owen Sound opened the scoring just two minutes into the game when Wesley Royston scored during a power play. Brantford responded with pressure of its own, putting 12 shots on goal in the opening period compared with five for Owen Sound. But the Bulldogs could not get one past Owen Sound’s goaltender and went into the first intermission trailing 1-0. The Attack continued to pressure the Bulldogs in the second, but Brantford goaltender Vilmer Salen Forsberg kept his team in the game. Forsberg stopped all 17 shots he faced in the period, keeping the deficit to one goal. Owen Sound extended its leads in the third when Max Delisle scored to make it 2-0 Brantford continued to push for a comeback and outshot the Attack 13-11 in the final period. Owen Sound’s Pierce Mbuyi capped the scoring with an empty-netter late into the third, making it 3-0. The loss now drops Brantford’s record to 7-1-0. The Bulldogs will look to get back on track during a Thanksgiving weekend double-header at TD Civic Centre. Brantford hosts the Kingston Frontenacs at 4 p.m. Saturday before facing the Ottawa 67/s at 2 p.m. Sunday.
