MIRAMICHI, N.B. - A New Brunswick judge has ruled that the first-degree murder trial of a man accused of killing his 16-year-old cousin will remain in Miramichi.

The lawyer for 30-year-old Curtis Wayne Bonnell of the Esgenoopetitj First Nation requested a new venue during a hearing in the Court of Queen's Bench in June.

Bonnell is charged in the death of Hilary Bonnell, who went missing after attending a house party on the reserve in on Sept. 5, 2009.

The girl's body was found buried in the woods in a remote area near the old Tracadie firing range.

Testimony related to the change of venue and the reasoning for Judge Fred Ferguson's decision are protected by a publication ban.

The trial is now scheduled to begin with jury selection on Nov. 15 in Miramichi.
