MIRAMICHI, N.B. - A New Brunswick court has put over a case involving a man accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl until January 18th.

Twenty-nine-year-old Curtis Wayne Bonnell appeared in a Miramichi courtroom by video link from the Moncton Detention Centre.

Prosecutor Luc Labonte says he wanted to begin discussions on possible dates for a preliminary hearing but that's not possible until Bonnell finds legal representation.

Bonnell faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his cousin Hilary Bonnell.

She was reported missing after attending a house party in early September on the Esgenoopetitj First Nation, also known as Burnt Church.

Her body was found in November buried in a remote wooded area that's part of a former military training area outside of Tabusintac.
