Model and journalist Peaches Geldof, daughter of musician and Live Aid activist Bob Geldof, has died at the age of 25 in circumstances police call “unexplained and sudden.”

Bob Geldof’s agent, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, confirmed on Monday that the British TV presenter had died. She did not provide any additional details.

Her father issued an emotional statement on his daughter’s death.

"Peaches has died. We are beyond pain," he said. "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us.

"Writing 'was' destroys me afresh. What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"

Her husband musician Thomas Cohen also issued a statement.

"My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra, and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day. We shall love her forever," Cohen said.

Peaches Geldof was the second daughter of Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates, a British TV presenter and writer.

Over the course of her life Peaches Geldof became a celebrity, and was well-known in the international fashion world.

She had previously been married to musician Max Drummey. She leaves behind two sons Astala Geldof-Cohen and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen.

Her death underscores a turbulent upbringing, which was marked by tragedy.

After Peaches Geldof’s parents divorced in May 1996, Yates became involved with INXS singer Michael Hutchence.

In 1997, Hutchence was found dead in a Sydney, Australia hotel room. Three years later, in 2000, Yates died of a drug overdose. Peaches Geldof was 11 at the time. Her father took custody of half-sister Tiger, the child of Hutchence and Yates, to keep the girls together.

In a 2012 interview with the U.K. version of Elle magazine, Peaches Geldof opened up about her mother's death.

"I remember the day my mother died, and it's still hard to talk about it. I just blocked it out. I went to school the next day because my father's mentality was 'keep calm and carry on'," she said.

"So we all went to school and tried to act as if nothing had happened. But it had happened. I didn't grieve. I didn't cry at her funeral. I couldn't express anything because I was just numb to it all. I didn't start grieving for my mother properly until I was maybe 16."

Peaches Geldof’s final tweet, on Sunday, linked to an Instagram image of her as a baby and her mother. To accompany the photo, she wrote a short caption reading: "Me and my mum."

On Twitter, celebrities expressed their sorrow and condolences over Peaches Geldof’s death.

“Poor sweet Peaches Geldof,” British singer Boy George wrote. “We spoke only a month ago and she looked like an angel. This is truly sad.”

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver wrote he was saddened to hear about her death. “Thoughts and love to her whole family.”
