George Michael had many great hits, both in his solo career and during his time with Wham! Before his death was announced on Dec. 25, many fans already had his classic “Last Christmas” on their holiday playlists.

Michael had seven number one singles in the U.K. and eight number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100. The group’s best known singles included "Freedom" “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and "Everything She Wants" which topped the charts in nearly 25 countries, including the U.K. and U.S.

The 1985 Wham! hit “Last Christmas” spent 13 weeks at number two on the U.K. Singles Chart and continues to be widely played and covered by other artists.

As a solo artist he is best remembered for classics like “Faith” and "Careless Whisper."

His debut solo album “Faith”, dominated the charts with six top five singles and has sold over 25 million copies worldwide since its release in 1987. Over the course of his nearly four-decade-long music career, he sold over 100 million albums.

Michael also collaborated with iconic stars like Elton John for the song “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and Aretha Franklin with “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me).”
