Parliament Hill is set to celebrate Canada’s 149th birthday in style, with musical acts Metric, Coeur de pirate and Indian City set to perform at the July 1 festivities.

Broadcast star Rebecca Makonnen and rapper Kardinal Offishall will co-host the daytime Canada Day show, with festivities that will also include a flypast by RCAF snowbirds.

Federal Heritage Minister Melanie Joly announced the Canada Day programming in Ottawa on Wednesday.

Other performers set to headline the show are singer-songwriters Alex Cuba and Alex Nevsky, Thunder Bay’s Coleman Hell and indie folk group Les Hay Babies, who hail from New Brunswick.

More musical acts will perform at a celebration at Major’s Hill Park in Ottawa.

A party at the Canadian Museum of History, located in Gatineau, Que., will also feature performances, as well as games and displays.

Partygoers who stick around for the evening show at Parliament Hill will be treated to the headlining musical acts, another flypast and a fireworks show.
