Zach’s back. The Edmonton Oilers made two roster moves Friday morning to make room on the roster for winger Zach Hyman, putting defenceman Troy Stecher on waivers and assigning rookie forward Ike Howard to the Bakersfield Condors, their minor-league affiliate. The 33-year-old winger will make his season debut Saturday against the Carolina Hurricanes in the third game of the Oilers’ longest road trip of the 2025-26 National Hockey League campaign. Hyman has been out of action recovering from a wrist injury he suffered in the third round of last season’s playoffs against the Dallas Stars. Hyman is two years removed from a career-best 54-goal campaign in the regular season and added 16 more in the playoffs to lead the team. Last season, the fifth-year Oiler scored 27 goals and 17 assists in 71 games played, adding five goals and six assists in 15 playoff contests.
