Unless a tantalizing trade proposal comes up in the next 24 hours or so, the Edmonton Oilers are done dealing ahead of Friday’s trade deadline, the National Hockey League team’s general manager says. Stan Bowman, who acquired three new players this week for the Oilers in two separate deals with the Chicago Blackhawks, shipping out two draft picks and forward Andrew Mangiapane in the process, told media on Thursday he doesn’t expect to make any more moves. “Part of our job is to see what’s out there, but if I’m looking at where we’re at, I think any further addition wouldn’t be a significant one,” the second-year Edmonton GM said at Rogers Place. “If it is in a depth role, something that makes sense, certainly we’ll look at it, but most likely, I would say this is our team.” The Oilers acquired forwards Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach from the Blackhawks on Wednesday night, sending Mangiapane and a conditional first-round draft pick in 2027 the other way. The deal came two days after another Oilers-Blackhawks deal that saw defenceman Connor Murphy shipped to Edmonton for a second-round draft pick in 2028. Bowman’s previous team of employ was the Blackhawks. The swaps came ahead of Friday’s National Hockey League trade deadline. Several other major deals have gone down across the league this week, including Thursday trades that saw centres Nicolas Roy head to the Colorado Avalanche from the Toronto Maple Leafs for two conditional draft picks and Nic Dowd depart the Washington Capitals for the Vegas Golden Knights for two draft picks and goalie prospect Jesper Vikman. On Wednesday, the Dallas Stars acquired towering defenceman Tyler Myers from the Vancouver Canucks for two draft picks while the Utah Mammoth dealt for defenceman Mackenzie Weegar from the Calgary Flames, sending three draft picks and blueliner Olli Matta in exchange.
