More than a dozen flights out of Edmonton have been cancelled due to a snow storm sweeping across central Alberta. said as of Wednesday afternoon there have been 18 cancelled flights. The airport accepted two diverted flights from Calgary due to a temporary ground stoppage. A spokesperson from the Edmonton International Airport (YEG) said there are currently 13 cancelled flights, which were preemptively done by airlines late Tuesday in anticipation of the storm. “Safety is our top priority. YEG is prepared to keep passengers and flights moving safely through even the most extreme winter conditions,” said Erin Isfeld in an email to CTV News Edmonton. Travellers are advised to check their flight status before going to the airport. Isfeld said the airport has seen about 20 cm of snow thus far.
