Red Deer County recently wrapped up construction along Junction Drive and Highway 42. A new roundabout has been added with a five-acre truck parking lot. The area is known as Junction 42 and located east of the town of Penhold. The rest stop is geared toward commercial vehicle drivers and includes EV charging stations, gas stations and restaurants. The $30-million project was launched five years ago by Red Deer County. Junction 42 saw roughly 500 vehicles everyday last year, according to county officials. Gasoline Alley sees around 20,000 vehicles every day.
