From Baxter to Buster, the annual RCMP puppy naming contest will close for submissions on Thursday. The RCMP Police Dog Service Training Centre in Innisfail, Alta. holds the contest each year - asking children in Canada, ages 4 to 14 years old, to help name future police dogs. Puppy names must start with the letter “B” this year. Last year, the best names started with the letter “A” and included winning submissions like Ace, Alfie and Anchor. In total, 13 best names will be chosen, and winners will be selected from each province and territory. Children can submit their best puppy names and enter the contest online. A full list of past winners is also listed on the RCMP website.
