A mountain bike park is now under construction in central Edmonton. Construction for the Edmonton Bike Park, located in Queen Elizabeth Park just east of the Walterdale Bridge, officially started last week. “Our amazing volunteers spent last week building berms and retaining walls, contouring the beginning of our flow trails,” the Edmonton Mountain Bike Alliance wrote on Facebook. “The bike park will feature three new, single-track trails, and we’ll repurpose and upgrade Won’t Die to become a sanctioned green. Like the rest of the park, our flow trails will be progressive, with features becoming more challenging as trail difficulty increases.” Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to sign up here. The alliance has been working on the project for five years. The full cost of the park is $1.2 million. With files from CTV News Edmonton’s Miriam Valdes-Carletti
