An Edmonton company has been fined following a 2024 incident that left a worker seriously injured. Fleet Brake Parts and Service Ltd. pleaded guilty on June 24 to failing to ensure a worker was protected from falling under the Occupational Health and Safety Code. The company was handed a fine of $138,000, which it has 30 days to appeal. On Jan. 22, 2024, a worker at a heavy-duty truck parts and service centre was struck by a vehicle hood and fell into an open drop pit. The Crown withdrew 13 other charges against Fleet Brake Parts and Service Ltd. as well as 14 charges against Parts for Trucks Inc.
